Die casting is a permanent mold process where molten metal is injected into a cavity. It is very economical at high production rates. The benefits of this process include small grain size and good strength of castings due to rapid cooling. Also a good surface finish can be obtained along with tolerances of .003in (.076mm). The only downside of die casting is restricted part geometry as a result of having to remove the part from the cavity
