Our client company is based in North Palm Beach County. They are a global leader in equipment and services for the power generation and rail transport industries. They have an immediate opening for a Sr. Buyer. The Sr. Buyer is responsible for purchasing all Inventory and Non-Inventory assigned commodities to support Manufacturing, Engineering and R&D Operations. The position requires judgment, ingenuity, critical thinking and adherence to established policies and procedures. The Sr. Buyer coordinates on-time delivery of goods, and administers all changes and updates to purchase orders. The ability to manage projects, gather and analyze data, work in a team environment and meet deadlines is critical to success in this position.

Position Responsibilities: • Orders production materials and supplies using ERP/MRP and reorder rules according to predetermined inventory guidelines. • Coordinates changes to purchase order quantities or delivery dates, as required. • Responsible for timely updating, accuracy, and integrity of purchasing records and data. • Updates suppliers on changes to specifications and arranges for effective transitions. • Provides purchasing support as requested to the new product development teams. • Identifies sources of supply for New Product Development, • Concept as well as strategic sourcing objectives within company. • Identifies new suppliers in an effort to reduce costs and increase quality and service. • Continues to review supplier base in order to reduce overall number of suppliers. • Negotiates best total cost and delivery within acceptable company quality standards. • Manages inventory levels to reduce inventory while ensuring supply availability using lean manufacturing techniques.

Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of seven years demonstrated success in purchasing in a Manufacturing and Outsourcing environment. Candidates with strong MFG & MRP experience with a AS degree will be considered. • Certified as Certified Purchasing Management (CPM), Certified Purchasing Inventory Management (CPIM) or APICS • Manufacturing, engineering or operations experience • SAP or PC- based business and material planning software MRP/ERP systems • Quality assurance methods in the manufacturing and outsourcing environment • Strong negotiation skills a must. • Warehousing methods and supply chain best practices • Experience with MRP/ ERP, purchasing, fabrication of metal components, Investment Castings, and assembly, ability to read mechanical drawings • Experience with lean manufacturing, supplier partnerships, expertise in supplier selection and contract development. • Florida based candidates preferred but will consider re-location for the right candidate.
