RESPONSIBILITIES: Design mechanical equipment and products in support of unit’s overall goals and objectives.

? Analyze product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing or new manufacturing or processing facilities and methods. Review designs to assure compliance with customer requirements.

? Participate in safety reviews of new or modified products to assure safe performance and manufacturability.

? Provide technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning.

? Confer with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develop design.

? Prepare or direct preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.

? Direct and coordinate manufacturing or building of prototype product or system. Train manufacturing personnel on correct methods and procedures necessary for production.

? Compile and analyze operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment or product.

? Plan and develop experimental test programs.

? Analyze test data and report to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.

? Participate in the continuous improvement of management systems.

? Confer with other engineering personnel or communicate directly with customers when required to clarify requirements.

? Evaluate engineering test results for possible application to developments of systems or other uses.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. Engineering 3 – 5 years experience.
