Training Specialist Job Description
(Syracuse, NY)

? Duties include developing and implementing technical and safety training curriculum for new and existing employees at all levels of the organization. Conduct and coordinate classroom and shop based technical and safety instruction; develop evaluation/certification exams; review training schedules; and maintain training facility and equipment.
? Knowledge of electrical products industry. Also knowledge of commercial/industrial electrical needs.
? Where appropriate, recruit and train job instructors to carry out 0n-the- job training. Work with local training institutions including local colleges and other outside sources to develop training plans to address needs. Coordinate necessary training.
? Responsible for communications, equipment preparation, classroom setup, course instruction/evaluation, completion of course records and data entry. Identify possible program improvements or opportunities to develop new programs in response to company needs. Communicate these possibilities to the Department Manager. Participate in the planning and implementation of any resulting program changes. Will develop and conduct technical training in the areas of Harsh and Hazardous Area Classifications. Will provide new employees with a plant tour and orientation to the company.
? Responsible for developing annual training plan.
? Use questionnaires and surveys in consultation with managers and staff to analyze training needs as they relate to the goals of the organization and work area. Develop training resources, which may involve preparing notes and visual displays from researched information or their own knowledge. Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, using surveys, questionnaires, interviews and observation, in order to plan future courses or to amend existing ones.
? Identifies organizational priorities and skill gaps based on knowledge of best practice and issues related to cross-disciplinary training and determines training interventions that will develop individual competencies to meet these priorities.
? Relevant work experience: 5-7 years
? Education level: B.S. degree with a major concentration preferably in management, science, adult education or instructional design and industry experience, preferably supporting a manufacturing environment. Experience facilitating train the trainer and training certification processes. Knowledge of regulatory and technical training requirements and associated
processes. Experience with utilizing a Learning Management System.
